WHAT SEEKETH YE? – Apostle Joshua Talena

Thursday 16 March 2023

(John 6:25-26) And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

Different people has different motives of coming to church. Some people come to church to seek miracles. Some come to church to seek friendship and connection. some people come to church just to seek for incentive that will sustain their temporary hunger while others come to church to seek Him that has eternal life. Now the question you should genuinely ask yourself this hour is “what do I seek in the church?” Beloved, until you ask this question and equally answer yourself with utmost truthfulness, you will still be coming to seek after the wrong thing in the church.

Church is a solemn place built for the saints to gather and worship God together. Therefore, your sole motive of coming to church should be focused on Him whom all men gather together to worship (GOD). Contrary to this is a pragmatic evidence that you have lost focus on why you come to church. Coming to church to seek for connection or friendship that scatters into pieces at the slightest disagreement is a sign that you are not matured in kingdom matters.

In fact, you are still in kindergarten class in your Christian walk. Men who seek the things listed above are in no wise different from the gentiles because this is what the Gentiles seek after (Matthew 6:31-32). Men who come to church to seek Jesus are men that are matured in their Christian walk. Jesus is the Custodian of eternal life, therefore seeking Him must be your sole focus for coming to church. Seeking Jesus guarantees the addition of every other thing you desire in life (Matthew 6:33).

Beloved Jesus is all that you need. Stop chasing after men and other mundane things which adds no value to your Christian walk and can disappoint at any time. From today as you come to church, remove your heart from men and the mundane things of this world that will plunge you into the perdition of distraction and focus your attention to Jesus who is the giver of all good things.

Meditation: Coming to church to seek for connection or friendship that scatters into pieces at the slightest disagreement is a sign that you are not matured in kingdom matters.

Prayer: O Lord, as I come to church to seek You, do not allow me to be distracted, grant me absolute focus, and let my heart be stationed in You only, in Jesus Name, Amen.
