REFUSE TO QUIT – Apostle Joshua Talena

Friday 17 February 2023

(Proverbs 24:10) If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small

To fail is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective. To fail is not bad, it is necessary to fail. To fail does not mean that you are a failure, it just means that you have not succeeded yet. To fail is not fatal, it is just a bend not the end. To fail is not the end of life. That you failed is evidence that you can recover. The person who has never failed is the person who has never really tried anything significant in life. You can make it again. Jacob was a man that was accustomed to all kinds of failure and a life of many twists and turns, but eventually he prevailed with God and with men. The nation of Israel took her name from him and the twelve tribes of Israel descended from him. If Jacob could make it, you can!

Abraham Lincoln failed in practically everything he attempted to do but he would not give up. He eventually became the American president and history considers him as one of the best American presidents. Can you imagine if at any of those points of failure, he had quit or given up? He will never have won the election to become America’s president and he will never have become the great icon that he eventually became. Thomas Edison said that failure was a very useful tool for him. He said he learnt after every failure that was the wrong way to do what he was doing. Failure can be turned inside out to become a success, if you refuse to quit.

The men are separated from the boys in the day of trouble. Champions are not afraid of fights; they thrive and prosper in and through the battles and challenges of life. Life is not really about what is thrown at you, it is a lot more about how you respond to what was thrown at you. The Bible says that though a righteous man may fall seven times, he will still get back up. You do not become a champion by sitting in your sofa all day long. It comes from fighting life’s battles and confronting life challenges head on. Do not stop fighting on. Persevere and do not faint. On Good Friday it looked like Jesus had failed but there was still Easter Sunday. A man is not failure when he fails or is defeated, he is a failure when he quits. Therefore, refuse to quit and refuse to stay down.

Meditation: A man is not failure when he fails or is defeated, he is a failure when he quits.

RM: Strength in the Midst of Adversity

Prayer: Father, help me so that I do not look at the failures in my life as fatal and permanent. Help me to pick myself after every failure. Thank you Lord Jesus.
