DO YOU KNOW JESUS? – Apostle Joshua Talena

Friday 30 December 2022

(1 Corinthians 2:2) For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Most people who troop to church don’t really know Jesus. Some of them are carried away by the jamboree associated with praise and worship, while some are just interested in activities that pans out during prophecy time. Beloved, coming to church every day and participating virtually in all the activities of the church does not entail that you know Christ Jesus. Having the privilege to hold the microphone during service time or having the privilege to be appointed as a leader in one of the departments of the church does not connote that you know Christ Jesus. Knowing Christ Jesus goes beyond your commitment in the activities of the church.

Knowing Christ Jesus emanates from having genuine relationship and personal revelation concerning the things that pertains to Christ and the kingdom of God. Knowing Christ Jesus connotes having a great understanding concerning His death, burial and His resurrection. It also connotes knowing the nitty gritty of His finished work on the cross of Calvary which birthed salvation that was given to us freely as a gift (Ephesians 2:8).

Your position in the church is not a guarantee that you know Christ Jesus. Your close acquaintance with your man of God does not guarantee that you know Jesus. In fact, being a child of pastor is not criteria that certifies that you know Christ Jesus. Your father can be the general overseer of a great commission and yet you are far from knowing Christ. The sons of Sceva whose father was a chief priest assumed that they know Jesus and this mentality made them to embark on conducting deliverance on a man that was possessed with evil spirit. But because they don’t know Jesus in reality, the man who was possessed by the evil spirit leaped on them and overcame them and they fled the house through the window, naked and battered. Knowing Christ Jesus is a function of personal relationship and revelation of Him (1 Corinthians 2:2).

Child of God, not having personal revelation and relationship with Christ makes you vulnerable to satanic antagonisms and demonic maneuvering. It makes you powerless in the face of attack from the camp of your enemies. It makes you susceptible to the hostilities of satanic bandits and human wickedness.

Beloved, knowing Christ Jesus is the avenue to send oppressors packing from your terrain (Isaiah 54:14). Knowing Christ Jesus endows you with the power to wrought divers miracles (Philippians 3:10 & Acts 19:10-11). It also makes you a candidate of heaven. Beloved, I ask you today, do you know Christ Jesus?

Meditation: Your position in the church and your close acquaintance with your man of God is not a guarantee that you know Christ Jesus.

RM: The Revelation of Jesus
Prayer: O Lord, give me an encounter that will make me to genuinely know you, in Jesus name. Amen.
