While we cannot dispute the fact that the devil is like a roaring lion who seeks to harm any vulnerable individual. However, it is imperative for believers to know that Satan has prime targets.
In fact, he leaves certain people behind and refuses to attack them, while he assiduously launches attacks against his prime targets. Recall that the kind of vicissitudes of life Joseph experienced were severe than what his brothers experienced.
When other children were born in Israel, no decree was given that every child below the age of 2 should be killed, until when Jesus was born. Additionally, the kind of battles Jesus faced, none of his brethren (brothers and sisters) faced it.
Simply put, the devil mercilessly attacks people who have divine agenda to carry out on earth.
Here is the list of the devil’s prime targets:
(1) CHILDREN WITH ENVIABLE GLORY
When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill ALL THE BOYS in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.
After Jesus was born, his star was seen in the east by the Magi. The star they saw was an enviable one; which was quiet different from the ones they used to see anytime a child was born. The star was glaring to the extent that they knew it was the star of the king of the Jews (Matt. 1:2).
So, Herod decided to know where the child was in order for him to kill the child – Jesus. But God intervened and the child was taken to Egypt. In reaction to that, King Herod gave orders that every child below the age of 2 should be killed.
The truth is, every child comes to this world with different glory. However, there are some glories that are enviable because the glory of the moon differs from the glory of the sun (1 Cor. 15:40).
It is these enviable glories that the devil seeks to harm at childhood before the child can personally become a threat to the devil and his kingdom.
My point here, is not that the devil does not attack everyone. HE DOES! But he tends to attack children with enviable glory furiously and severally.
Recall that Joseph was attacked mercilessly because of the kind of glory he carried which was different to that of his brothers. He had an enviable glory! And this glory would make his parents and his brothers to bow down to the ground for him (Gen. 37:10). That is why
Joseph was the PRIME TARGET of the devil among the 12 children Jacob had.
My prayer to you is that the devil will not be able to abort your dreams in Jesus’ name.
Part 2 will be posted tommorow by God’s grace.
