Nigeria is 61 years today, and a nation of this age must return to the drawing board to get it right while the time is right – Bro. Joshua Iginla

Nigeria got her independence under a constitution that made available a parliamentary government and a substantial level of self-government for the regions of the country in October 1, 1960. Under the exceptional leadership push of Ahmadu Bello, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe etc., in October 1963 Nigeria became a Federal Republic, which was later taken over by the Military in 1966.

Now, at the inception of a Democratic Government on May 29, 1999, the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria began operating a Government of the people, by the people and for the people. This system of Government is expected to prioritize the voice, wellbeing and safety of its people, but that is a level we are still praying to reach. Nigeria is called the giant of Africa, with an estimated population of about 206 million people, yet leadership patterns and the country’s outcome has not been exactly as expected. We have seen poverty, unemployment, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping ravaging the country and her citizens like never before, and we still stand as a nation in hope.

Nigeria is 61 years today, and a nation of this age must return to the drawing board to get it right while the time is right. Leadership is not about positional occupation, leadership is about producing competent and visible results that inspire national development. YES! we still stand tall, trusting God and praying deeply for the unveiling of the greatness and peace of our people in NIGERIA.

A nation is nothing without the greatness and peace of its people. So, we won’t lay low and we won’t be silent, we chant FIRE in the SPIRIT and release NIGERIA into the perfecting hand of God. We may have our independence as a nation, but we still depend on God to chart the course for our best! A nation so full of gifts and treasures, yet no gates nor bars. Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone (Jeremiah 49:31). Listen, it is not time for jamboree, it is time to lift this nation and her people again to GOD in prayer! I speak forth greatness and peace unto the people of this NATION! None shall be laid to waste. In Jesus name.
Happy independence day.
