ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): GENESIS 2:5
MESSAGE OBJECTIVE(S): Understanding what it takes for God to send rain
It is God’s Will for rain to be on the earth but the rain of revival does not just happen
It only happens when the conditions are met and the situation is right
God will not cause rain to fall on the earth for as long as there is not a man to till the ground (Gen. 2:5)
Rain is a product of favour (Prov. 16:15)
If we are going to see the latter rain, we must be candidates of God’s favour (Prov. 16:15)
Kingdom favour happens in response to Covenant labour
SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF COVENANT FATHERS THAT SAW FAVOUR THROUGH COVENANT LABOUR:
- Abraham (Gen. 14:14; 13:2)
- Isaac (Gen. 26:18-22, 23-24)
The labour of your father cannot grant you the favour you deserve
Everybody must labour his own labour to see favour
It takes productive engagement to see covenant enlargement
You will never see the appearance of the Lord until you have been tirelessly engaged in the assignment of your hand; the appearance of the Lord is what is called Revival
How can your assignment/destiny be awake when your spirit is asleep?
God does appear to pastors, He appears to labourers.
If you are tilling the ground and the rain is not falling, it means you are not labouring enough (Gen. 2:5)
- Jacob (Gen. 31:38-41; Gen. 28:12; Luke 2:8)
With what degree of labour do you watch over your flock?
The best form of supervision is self-supervision
- David (1Sam. 16:10-12)
God needs to deliver us from armchair Christianity and celebrity-craving ministry
- Paul the apostle (1Cor. 15:10; 2Tim. 4:6-8)
Only Paul wrote almost half of the New Testament
What is the ratio of your resting period in comparison to your labour?
- Our Master Jesus (John 5:17; Mark 8:1-3)
The reason why there is scarcity of rain is because there is a shortage of brutal men to till the ground
God is not in short supply of rain but there is a shortage of men to till the ground
WHAT LABOUR ARE WE REFERRING TO?
- Labour in the Word (1Tim. 5:17)
Labour to arrive at light and insight
Any impact the people will feel is an overflow of the light and insight in your own life
- Labour in teaching and preaching (1Tim. 5:17; Acts 6:4)
Never be guilty of wasting the people’s time
It is an irresponsible preaching that does not leave the people with responsibility
- Labour in prayer (Isa. 66:8; Gal. 4:19; Col. 4:12)
- Labour in soul winning (Matt. 9:36-38; Luke 10:1-2)
Every Christian is primarily a soul winner
- Labour of love (1Thess. 1:3; Heb. 6:10; Matt. 25:43)
This is loving God and loving the people of God
You cannot teach the people until you have touched them – touched them in welfare and in ministering to their practical needs
WHAT WOULD LABOUR DO FOR YOU?
- Labour brings rain (Gen. 2:5)
- Labour brings profit (Prov. 14:23; Heb. 6:10)
If you are lethargic in action, you will get lethargic reactions
It takes energy to fulfil destiny
If you will do anything that will count on earth, it must cost.
You can get anything you want from God if you are ready to pay the price – Kathryn Kuhlman
The right work refreshes, the wrong work wearies.
Father, thank You for the Word I have received today. To You be all the glory Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
Father, liberate me from lethargy and baptize me with energy for labour, in Jesus’ Name.
Father, give me a baptism of help and of discipline for the right labour, in Jesus’ Name.
