PRAYER WORKS (1) – Dr. Chris Okafor

1 CHRONICLE 4: 9 – 10.

KEY VERSE: (Luke 18:1)
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Prayer and more prayers help in securing remembrance from God. In 2 Kings 6:27(MSG), the King of Israel answered the woman that cried to him for help and said “if God won’t help you, where on earth can I go for help.” By implication, the king was saying that if God does not remember you, how on earth, can a man like me, remember you? Prayer is one of the sure ways of securing the attention of God for your remembrance. Our key verse for today says ‘’… that they ought always to pray and not faint’’ (Luke 18: 1). Child of God, this goes to say that prayers can never be too much when it comes to the issues of God remembering a man.
What we do in prayers most times is calling the attention of God to a need or situation that is beyond us. It is time of telling God to step in and remember us. This is why prayer is a necessity for a believer,because the place of prayer is where you express your desperation for God’s help and remembrance. In the story of Jabez as recorded in 1Chro 4:9-10 which is our text for this devotion, you will see how prayer turned the circumstances surrounding Jabez around and God remembered him and granted his request. Beloved, I make bold to tell you that the help of God that guarantees remembrance is certain for anyone that will engage God and His Word in ceaseless prayers for it. The place of prayer is where you encounter the outstretched hand of God. Any believer that can pray should expect God to remember him and send him massive help from above.
Ephesians 3:20, says that if we dare to pray, the Lord said He will not just answer us, He will answer us in exceeding and abundant measure, far above what we can think or imagine. What a marvelous promise from God our Father, to us His children.
