Guard your heart (to enjoy perfect rest) – Pst. Winner Idachaba

Proverbs 4:23

Every word of perfect rest that has been declared over your life will come to pass in Jesus name.
In Perfect rest, your result is not equivalent to your effort.

Your 1 plus 1 will not be 2 anymore rather it will be more than that because the hand of God will rest upon whatever it is you’re doing.
Anything that is challenging your rest, you shall have victory over it in the name of Jesus!

The greatest battle against your perfect rest is the battle that the enemy instigate against your heart.

This battle can be in form of hate, jealousy, fear etc.

The battle of perfect rest is either won or lost in the heart.
If you wake up any day and you feel defeated in your heart, you will not enjoy the perfect rest God has promised you.

You must understand that the issue of perfect rest is determined in the heart.

When we talk about perfect rest, it doesn’t mean the absence of battles in our lives but having peace and joy even in the midst of all of these battles.
John 16:33

Jesus spoke to us that we should have peace.
It is the peace and joy of the Lord that makes us have rest even in the midst of our battles.

Cheerfulness comes from the heart.
Anyone who carries a cheerful heart is someone whose perfect rest cannot be distorted.
1 John 4:4

The first thing you must understand today is that our perfect rest as believers is rooted in the joy of the Holy spirit that is embedded in our hearts.

The Holy spirit is in us because the Bible says our body is the temple of the Holy spirit.
1 Peter 1:7-8

The Holy spirit is the one that stimulates joy unspeakable, full of glory in your heart.

The greatest weapon to win the battle of perfect rest in your life is the joy of the Holy spirit.

Joy is the antidote to worries, anxiety, troubles and challenges of life.

If you don’t settle any issue in your heart, it will not become a reality in your life.

Jesus said in this life we will have tribulations but be of Good cheer because he has overcome the world
Romans 14:17

Luke 17:21

You need to understand that the kingdom of God is in you and the kingdom of God is in three folds

  1. Righteousness
  2. Peace
  3. Joy in the Holy Ghost
When your life is filled with the Joy of the Lord, the happenings around your life doesn’t have an effect on you, you won’t be able to explain the Joy and that’s why the Bible calls it Joy Unspeakable
    What you must do to enjoy perfect rest;
  4. Never let your Joy level go down
    John 15:11

When you hear the word of the Lord, the Joy of the Holy spirit is ignited in you and when you engage the word of the Lord you’ve heard, your Joy will continually increase until your Joy is full.

When your Joy level is high, your perfect rest cannot be distorted.

Psalm 16:11

The scripture didn’t just say in the presence of the Lord there’s joy but rather it says there’s fullness of Joy.
To increase your Joy level, put yourself in the presence of the Lord
How to ensure your Joy level is high

  1. Engage the word
  2. Engage His presence
  3. Ask God (John 16:24)
  4. Live a life of contentment
    1 Timothy 6:6

The Genesis of strive, envy and competition is the fact that you’re not contented and this affects your perfect rest.

Pay less attention to the dictates of the world.
Don’t let the world tell you what to do rather let the word of God determine how you live your life.

When all you do is in the direction of your purpose and what God has designed for your life, you won’t have time to be envious of the world and competing with the world.

If you move in the direction God has ordained for you, God will back you and provide all you need for the journey but when you meander away from the plan of God for you, his backing won’t be available for you and His resources too and this affects your perfect rest.

  1. Set your affection/gaze on eternal things.

Colossians 3:2

You must learn to remove your attention from the things of the world and focus on eternal things.
Things that promote the agenda and vision of God and you’ll have perfect rest.

  1. Talk less and meditate more
    James 1:19-21

You need to learn to speak less because in the multitude of words, sin is found.

Avoid jesting, unprofitable argument, talk less, you must not have an opinion on everything that comes your way.

Ephesians 5:4
Don’t talk your life away this month and beyond.

You need to be careful about what you say, it’s not stupidity but an understanding of what you need to have rest.

  1. Speak in tongues regularly
    Romans 8:26

When you speak in tongues regularly, you engage the ministry of the Holy spirit

1 Corinthians 14:4
When you speak in tongues, you edify yourself.

Jude 1:20
When you pray in the Holy Ghost, your faith is built up and this will help you overcome the fears of the world and your perfect rest is established.

  1. Have a spiritual cover

A spiritual cover protects you from whatever the devil has targeted against your life.

Some of the rest you’re seeking in life, all you need to do is get under a spiritual covering and you’ll find perfect rest.

  1. You must have time for physical rest.

You need to engage physical rest.
Rest, sleep, eat well, go on vacations because it is going to help you decongest your life and you’ll have rest.

Spend time with people you love and those who love you.
Don’t go to where you’re disdained, rather go to where you’re celebrated and it will help your physical rest.

From time to time, do a check on your health.
Don’t leave your health to chance.
Philippians 4:7-8

If you think about all of the things in the above scripture, you’ll guard your heart and you’ll enjoy perfect rest.
