Today’s Word [6/06/2021] – Make your way right with God

Bible Text:

Psalms 86:11

Teach me Your way, O Lord;I will walk in Your truth;Unite my heart to fear Your name.

Today’s Word:

There is a way that appears to be right, but its end leads to death (Proverbs 14:12). Have you imagined how many people are on this way heading for destruction? A way that society accepts, a way that gives comfort in sin by providing justifications for wrong doing. Are you currently on that way? It is time to make your way right with God.

The prayer of the Psalmist  in the anchor scripture (Psalm 86:11), reveals four key attributes that would guarantee the exit from every deceptive way, to the way of the Lord.

1. You must come to Jesus Christ – The way of the Lord can only be accessed when you come to Jesus Christ, for He is the door that leads to the Father (John 14:6). Any way that does not start with Jesus Christ, is not the right way, because it lacks truth, and where there is no truth, there is no light.

2. You must be teachable – Many have become too familiar with God, that they attempt to show God His own way. The way of the Lord is an unfamiliar terrain (Isaiah 55:8-9), hence we must depend on Him daily to lead us through it. We must imbibe the spirit of humility, and must be willing to be led by His spirit (Romans 8:14).

3. Obedience – Obedience is walking in the light of the truth, as contained in the word of God, that we may know the way we should go (Psalm 119:105). This means that the word of God becomes our compass for navigation through life, where every decision and action is compared and weighed by the word of God.

4. Reverence for God – Reverence for God is the fear that produces the wisdom necessary in making righteous judgements, based on the understanding of the knowledge of God (Proverbs 9:10). When you reverence God, there are certain actions you can never take, because it falls short of the glory of God.

Moreover, making our ways right with God is not an option but a necessity, because our relationship with God is what counts at the end.

God bless you.
