1 John 5:14
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
A mans life is filled with many desires, and often times these desires become a motivator for many to request of God, that their desires be fulfilled. However, people find themselves in a position where they ask, but do not receive, because they asked in contravention to God’s will (James 4:3) .
God is committed to granting us our requests only when it conforms to His will (1 John 5:14). The will of God is His agenda, and this genda guarantees the fulfillment of His word (Jeremiah 29:11-12). When we ask, it is important that we come to terms with the will of God, because that guides us on what to ask at every point in time, how to ask, when and where to ask (Ephesians 5:17). God will never do anything outside His will, and would never encourage us to act outside His will by granting us our requests which does not conform to His will (John 5:20; 9:31).
It is however important that before we request of God for whatever we desire, we must first of all inquire of Him to know His will concerning it.
1. Inquire of God to know His will at all times concerning any request.
2. Ask according to His will.
