THE POWER OF FRUITFULNESS (1) – Rev. Dr. Joshua Talena

(John 15:8) This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

The first commandment God gave man was to be fruitful, and it is the will of God that we are fruitful. Fruitfulness is having the ability to produce fruit. It is expected of us to be fruitful because God has already given us the capacity to be fruitful. Even as a Christian, preaching the gospel and winning souls is an act of being fruitful because you multiply the Kingdom of heaven. Let us take the definition of fruitfulness. As a matter of fact, even from the word itself – fruit full – full of fruits. So the meaning is producing fruit. Producing something in abundance. Producing results or being profitable. It is unfortunate that many people who claim to be Christians lack fruit.

Fruitfulness is a sign of life. It is a source of deep satisfaction. It is the fulfillment of purpose – GOD’s purpose for man. Fruitfulness is what the gardener or farmer expects when he plants a seed, when he grows a vineyard. His expectation is that the garden will be fruitful, that he will harvest fruits. Fruitfulness brings glory to GOD. Fruitfulness is a source of deep satisfaction. It gives satisfaction. It is an indication that you have gotten things right with GOD. Fruitfulness brings fulfillment and purpose.

Joseph had a son, and named him Ephraim, (the GOD has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering). Hannah was fruitless until she cried out to God. She initially wanted just one boy but she experienced overflowing fruitfulness, she had six children. God is capable of giving you beyond your request, God can make you to be fruitful. If you are experiencing fruitlessness, just depend on him.

Child of God, this year may you receive power to bear fruit. May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become very great in Jesus name, Amen.
