GOD VS EVIL – Evangelist Ikechukwu Peter

I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7).This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. (1John1:5).Wow, the two scriptures from both books of the Bible looks contradicting. A proper application of the rules of hermeneutics will show you that there is no single contradiction in the two scriptures above.Read slowly, carefully, meticulously and above all, with an open heart. If you don’t go by this counsel, you may get offended midway.While some people try to defend God ignorantly, they fail to understand that God’s word is auto defensive. All we need do is, seek proper interpretation.When they see biblical statements like “I kill and make alive….’’ , they try to run in God’s defense without proper light of interpretation. Some one went to the extent of saying it was demons that spoke in the Old Testament, this is an insult to the integrity the word of God upholds. Hear this;
The Lord gave his word; great was the company that published it.(Ps 68:110.
God is the author of the word, men only had the privilege to publish it. In the process of publication, the word of God was translated into various languages. However, with a good understanding of the language in use, and the help of the Holy Spirit we can catch the light.The whole Bible from Genesis to revelation speaks about Jesus, we need the illumination of the spirit to be able to bring perspective to what is contained there in. It will be better to read the Bible in your mother tongue, if you don’t understand grammar.Back to our core objective, The scripture in Isaiah tells us that God brings prosperity and creates disaster….this has in no way contradicted what John said, in God there is no darkness. The darkness is an object created by God and not a substance that was released from His inside…..these are two different things.A very intelligent reader, will say…but if he creates darkness, it’s because it comes from inside of him. No, sir/ma!The intention for the creation is what we should analyze. Now, it even depends on what we call evil. Whatever God does, he does it with a righteous motivation, whether is be translated into literal good or evil….I will explain 🖊We know that death is evil or darkness, ok…..take for instance, a thief kills a man to rub his car and in another scene a soldier kills a terrorist to save the lives of people. In this case two deaths occurred, while one was evil, the other was right. One was murder, the other was killing to avert evil. God can create darkness just to dispense his righteousness on his people….he can’t murder, but he can kill in righteousness. God can kill to protect his own!There is a difference between murder/assassination and killing. A thief can murder or carry out assassination while a soldier can kill to protect his nation….the soldiers who kill to protect their nation are not assassins or murderers….do you see the difference ?When God kills, it’s simply a call back of his own product, it’s not murder and so it cannot be evil.Your perimeter for defining evil and attributing to individuals can not be used to scale God…because what is evil in your scale can be righteousness when God does it. This where we miss it. Take for example, it is evil for you to take a life you didn’t give if not for self defense or national military duty. God takes the life he gave and you call it evil….he takes it away many times to avert evil. If a soldier is not prosecuted for killing in war, how do you charge God for evil for taking a life he gave, on purpose ?In God there is no darkness at all….but he can use darkness as a messenger to achieve righteousness.He killed powerful kings— His love endures forever. Psalm 136:18In expressing his love, he killed. In prosecuting this judgment, he can assign darkness. His intentions are to display love. Your scale for measuring evil is not applicable to God.God does not murder, neither does he assassinate. All flesh are his and he can call back anyone he feels like whenever he wants and this doesn’t in anyway translate to evil.Every good and perfect gift comes from above, coming down from the father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow of turning (James 1:17).God does not do evil and will never do evil, whatever he does is righteous!- Ikechukwu Peter
