IMPORTANT PRAYERS WE SHOULDN’T NEGLECT 2 – Fada Olouma

I wasn’t surprised when I read it. Surprise has given way to a tinge of excitement as its another proof of the veracity of the gospel thru been preached in variants for ages. It was a piece I read about Dj Cuppy in an online publication.

DJ Cuppy is one of the daughters of Nigerian billionaire business tycoon, Femi Otedola. Her real name is Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola. A fan asked her if she were happy, she admitted that she wasn’t as happy as her flashy, peacockish, exquisite, flamboyant and rich life seems to suggest in media. She said she wanted MORE from life an that left her disillusioned. She promised to work on it.

This lady has tons of money, she has fame, she has popularity and everything imaginable for a luxurious life, yet she admitted happiness didn’t come to her commensurately.

Before Cuppy’s admission, I had also seen a post on facebook by some Hollywood legendary actors who have accumulated wealth, global fame and all their attendants perks making same concession. They quizzed how someone could have success, wealth and fame, and still be unhappy?

So, it’s established that wealth, fame, popularity and all the stuff we spend our lives pursuing do not bring the happiness we imagine they would. Economists, and perhaps, biologists have established that ‘man is insatiable’. The Bible teaches it. Most spiritual traditions uphold it.

I have seen it in my own life too. More of material things haven’t translated to ‘more happiness’. Unfortunately, they won’t ever😢

So, while you ‘hustle’ to ‘blow’, to have more money, power, wealth, influence, fame and whatever, and I pray you succeed, remember that ‘more’ of those things doesn’t mean ‘more happiness or joy or satisfaction’.

I decided to let the words of Ps 4:6-7 sink in my heart: ” what can bring us happiness, many asked?
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord.
You have put into my heart a greater joy than they have from the abundance of corn and new wine”

Now, I don’t neglect this prayer anymore:
“Father, bless me with joy, happiness, contentment and satisfaction no matter the circumstance.”

When you have happiness, joy, contentment and satisfaction, more money, fame, wealth and material things will only make you more generous and nothing more. Only God can give you satisfaction and happiness, make that your prayer.
