THE REWARD SYSTEM OF HEAVEN – Evangelist Ikechukwu Peter

Revelation 22:12

New International Version
“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done

God has a reward system and that reward system is based on how you allow the grace of God function through you in the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose outlined to find expression through life. Jesus said He will give this reward to each person according to what they have done.

What is reward?

Reward is a present given to you for a job well done.

There is a falsehood flying around. This falsehood seeks to destroy organic Christianity, it sponsors a lies that makes you think anytime work is mentioned, it is akin to legalism. This is false!

There are two types of works;

The works of the Law: This is when a man tries to purchase and maintain salvation through work and self effort. This kind of work actually cuts you off from grace;

Galatians 5:4
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

Ephesians 2:8-10
New International Version
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,(H) which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The works of Grace;

Salvation wasn’t gotten by work but we are saved unto good works. These good works are works God had prepared that we should do. He prepared the works and He also helps to do the work through us;

Ephesians 2:10
New International Version
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

He prepared it for us to do. He also helps us to do it;

Phil 2:13
New Living Translation
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him

It will therefore amount to frustration of grace if we do not allow Him do this work through us. There are two ways you can frustrate grace;

1.When you try to do it by your strength….remember no man prevails by the arm of flesh.

2. When you refuse to submit to the energy and the infrastructure that grace make available for you in doing the will of God. Hear what Paul said;

Galatians 2:21
King James Version
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Listen Christianity is not synonymous to laziness. Some people think when you are saved, you just go ahead and sleep, they think that the finished work of Christ means you have no more responsibility as a Christian. Let me share what Paul said:

1 Corinthians 15:10
King James Version
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

He said, he labored more than they all..how?..by the grace that was bestowed on him. He made it abundantly clear that the labor was a result of the grace he had received. This means if you explain away labor in the name of the finished work it is because you don’t understand the finished work of Christ. If you do so, the grace you received is in vain.

In Jesus letter, He emphasized on the work and labor of each Church;
To the Church in Ephesus He said ” I know your works, your labor and patience…” (Rev 2:2). He said the same to the Church in Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and when He got to the Church in Laodicean, He told them their work was lukewarm…..meaning they were doing nothing for the advancement of the kingdom….that was a Church that saw service to God as legalism. Jesus said He would vomit them out if they refuse to repent, whatever that word vomit you out means,it’s not a thing any Christian should desire to happen to him or her. Remember, this letter was written after Jesus resurrected so you don’t say He was addressing the people of the Law. In fact if Jesus were physically here, some will accuse Him to be a legalist, because these letters to some appears so legalistic especially because work and labor are mentioned.

Listen, you can loss your reward;

1 Corinthians 3:13-15
New International Version
13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

Don’t you know that in eternity some streets will be named after the names of people? Some of the structures in heaven were named after the Apostles;

Revelation 21:14
New International Version
The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

God had made available all it needs to help you fulfill the works He prepared for you to walk in. He has made all grace available;

2 Corinthians 9:8

King James Version
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

This is so clear, I don’t know how some folks read their bible. Grace is available for good works yet someone is telling you that anything work is legalism…Can’t you see the deception??

Now, let’s think on this, if righteous instruction is legalism, then some of these guys will say the Holy Spirit is a legalist. Has the Holy Spirit not given you instructions of what to do and what not to?…if this has never happened to you, then I doubt if you are truly born again. Does it now mean that the Holy Spirit is a legalists for instructing you?….God gives us instructions because He has also given us the capacity to obey them bia grace. In the same way the Holy Spirit can instruct us, the word of God too has righteous instructions we must obey.

God rewards your labor, yes He does!

2 Chronicles 15:7
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Our labor is out of love because we have been abundantly love by the father;

Hebrews 6:10

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

In conclusion, Don’t give up, align your self to grace, keep doing the work of God because you have been empowered to do so.

Blessings!
