10 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE ORDAINING ANYONE INTO A LEADERSHIP POSITION IN THE CHURCH – Bishop Irabor Wisdom

Several persons reached out to me after yesterday’s post on the need to be very careful before Ordaining people into Leadership position in the Church.
They want to know what should be the things to consider or look out for in a person that is being proposed for Ordination into Leadership Position in a local Assembly.

We shall be looking at scriptures to consider ten (10) of what we should look out for before Ordaining Anyone.

1. THE PUBLIC TESTIMONY OF THE PERSON TO BE ORDAINED.

ACTS 6:3.
‘Therefore brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation….’

According to the above Scripture, he must be a person of Good Reputation.

Some other Version calls it Honest Reports.

The Labourers are few but God will not cut down biblical standard to accommodate anyone.

There is no wisdom Ordaining anyone whose public lifestyle will do damage to the Work of the Ministry.

A Man with two Wives can be useful to a Vision but not Ordainable.

His marriage to two women has disqualified him from Ordination.

Some Sins can be managed at the Congregational Level but not at the Leadership Level.

When you sit in Church, no one really cares much how you live your life outside the Church, but when you stand on the Altar to Minister, it becomes everyone’s business how you live your life.

We are not looking for Perfection but for men who can be examples to others.

A very good public testimony makes even Soul Winning easy.

Imagine you beat your wife everyday at home, how do you Preach to a Muslim neighbour with a Peaceful Marriage to accept Christ.

To be continued tomorrow.
