The Necessity of Asking

Anchor Passages: Matthew 7:7, Luke 11:9-11

The place of asking in the life of every child of God cannot be overemphasized. One of the greatest privileges that God has given to His children, is the privilege of asking.

It’s stated clearly in John 14:14 “if you ask anything in my Name, I will do it”. What a lovely Father.

Asking is a system or appointed means that God has set aside for His children to obtain what they need from Him.
Therefore, it’s ignorance to assume that God is aware of all your needs and there is no need to ask Him for anything. Those who have settled with that kind of mentality are settled for frustration.

Brethren, God has commanded us to ask, so we must ask in order to receive, Luke 11:9 “ask it shall be given to you, for everyone who asks shall receive”.

Reasons why we must ask from God always,

I will just enumerate 3 benefits from the numerous lists;

✓ You are only qualified to receive what you asked for ( Luke 11:9). You are not permitted to receive whatever you are not asking for, hence to ask for nothing is to receive nothing from Him, but in asking, our desires are guaranteed when we do so according to His will.
✓ It guarantees the release of your possession: Psalms 2:8. It is clear that your possession is approved in your asking from the Lord. He said “ask of me and I shall give you ……the uttermost part of the earth for your possession.
✓ It is an act of humility to God the Giver. Many people are too arrogant to humble themselves in submitting their requests to God. Don’t come to the point when you think you can do anything without God.

Brethren, it is not an act of weakness to submit our requests to God, for those who are too big to ask from God, become too little to receive from God.

Ask according to His will and He will do it for you. The good Lord will respond to your requests today, as you ask according to His will, in Jesus name, amen.
