(Philippians 4:8) Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.

A positive person is a positive thinker. Positive thinking is the mental and emotional attitudes that focuses on the bright side of life and expect positive results. Positive thinking actually means approaching life’s challenges with a positive outlook. It does not necessarily mean avoiding or ignoring the bad things, instead, it involves making the most of the potentially bad situations, trying to see the best in other people and viewing yourself and your abilities in a positive light. To become a positive thinker means having a positive mindset and making positive thinking a habit. Some characteristics that portray us as a positive minded person is enumerated below:

Optimism: This is the willingness to take chances without assuming that your effort will not work or produce any result.

Acceptance: This is acknowledging that things don’t always turn out how you want them to and learning from your mistakes.

Resilience: This is ability to bounce back from adversity, disappointment and failure instead of giving up. Remember, “Tough times don’t last but tough people do”.

Gratitude: This is to continuously appreciate the good things God has done in your life and be hopeful for a better future.

Consciousness: You need to be consciously aware of your goals and the ability to focus on it.

Integrity: Be honourable, upright, righteous and straightforward instead of being deceitful and selfish.

Beloved, positive mindset is key to a successful life. Developing a positive mindset is not about being happy or cheerful and it is not about ignoring anything that is negative or unpleasant in your life. Positive mindset is about incorporating both the positive and negative into your perspective and choosing to still be generally optimistic. It is about acknowledging that you will not always be happy and learning to accept bad moods and difficult emotions when they come. It is about increasing your control over your own attitude in the face of whatever comes your way, while trusting God to see you through it all.
