Episode 2: Who is to blame? -Awe Hilary

Mr Jide was a religious man who was very diligent in observing the laws and tenents of his religion. He was considered a “righteous man” according to the tenents of his religion. When he died, his spirit proceeded out of the earth like everyone who has experienced death.

The following conversation ensued between the man and the Angel at the gate of Heaven.

ANGEL: Where are you going?

MR JIDE: I am going to paradise

ANGEL: Which paradise?

MR JIDE: The paradise my religion told me about. I have been diligent in keeping all the commandments, and observing all the religious rituals, so I have come to enjoy in paradise.

ANGEL: Did you not listen or read that Jesus Christ is the only way to enter the kingdom of God, which is the paradise you seek?

MR JIDE: I know Jesus Christ, he was one of the prophets, I do listen to the Christians talk about Him, saying He is the son of God, but my religion doesn’t teach me that.

ANGEL: He is indeed the Son of the Living God, and without Him, you are not going through this gate (The gate of Heaven).

MR JIDE: Are you saying, I have been deceived?

ANGEL: Yes you have been deceived

MR JIDE: O my god, they told me about Him, but I did not listen, I only followed what my religion told me. Please can I accept Him now?

ANGEL: Am sorry you cannot, depart from me, and proceed straight to hell.

MR JIDE: O my god, I have been scammed! I have been scammed!!! Please allow me go back, I will accept Him! I will accept Him!!

ANGEL: Its too late, leave my presence now, for you have no portion with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord.

This is the fate of many who are fixated to their religious beliefs and would count the preaching of the gospel of Christ as a religious ploy by an opponent to demarket and devalue the tenents of their religion.

The gospel of Jesus Christ to the world is a gospel of salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which they must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Religion is defined as a way of life, but not every way leads to life. God determines how He is to be worshiped, and the Way to gain access to His presence, hence He gave His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to bear our inequities and pay the price for our sins on the cross of Calvary (1 Peter 2:24).

Many like Mr Jide have taken to a particular religion or way that leads to death, because they were either born into homes where such religion were practiced, or as a result of societal pressures.

He heard the gospel of Christ, but he discarded it, because it was not in comformance to his religious beliefs. There are many who are fixated to their religious beliefs, that they fail to question these beliefs by seeking to know the truth, that they may be free from the bondage associated with ignorance, and the dilemma of wasting a lifetime believing in the wrong things.

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” ~ JOHN 8:32 (NKJV).

Mr Jide failed to seek the truth, and even when he heard it, he couldn’t recognise it, until it was too late.

May it never be too late for you in Jesus name, amen.

1. Jesus Christ is the only way to God (John 14:6).

2. Question your beliefs by seeking the truth (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

3. Truth (Jesus Christ) is only available to those who seek (Mathew 7:7).

4. The true religion is not dependent on family affiliation, or the world’s acceptance, but in God’s design (Mathew 11:27).

God bless you.
