IAUE TO ESTABLISH AN INSTITUTE IN HONOUR OF PASTOR IBIYEOMIE

As part of efforts to honour the Presiding Pastor of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie, an Institute is to be established in his name by Ignatius Ajuru University of Education to promote religious studies.

The Vice-Chancellor of IAUE Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele made this disclosure on Wednesday November 21, 2019 during the last quarter of the Vice-chancellor’s Staff forum for the year 2019 which held at the University auditorium.

He also disclosed that the 100 female hostel project by Pastor Ibiyeomie is part of projects to be commissioned by the Rivers State Governor Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Saturday December 7, 2019, the date approved for the 37th Convocation ceremony of the institution.

Other projects to be commissioned include the graduate students hostel, Mini Amphitheater for the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Governor Wike Centre of Excellence Circular Road, Ultra Modern Power Station. Professor Ndimele thanked those who contributed towards the power project which resulted in the purchase of a brand new generating set and transformer and appealed for more donations from those who were not part of the initial fund raising project to key into the project to help solve the problem of diesel.

The Vice-Chancellor also stated that the Distance Learning Institute will be flagged off on the convocation day and solicited for support from staff towards the success of the event especially with the convocation of the first set of 45 Doctorate degree graduands of the University.

He described the feat as a landmark achievements and encouraged staff to be part of the success story.
The Chief Executive commended the Dean of Faculty of Education Professor Vincent Asuru and that of Faculty of Humanities Dr Priye Enemi Iyalla-Amadi for embarking on self-help projects and urged other Facilities to emulate them for the growth and development of the institution.

In view of the accident that occurred from driving against traffic leaving a student with spinal cord injury, those who drive against traffic will have their car keys confiscated for a period of one month in addition to paying a fine of twenty thousand naira.

On promotion, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele informed staff that Governing Council will by next month December approve and ratify the elevation of some academic staff to the ranks of Associate professors and Professors and promised that those involved will enjoy their Christmas celebration with their new titles.
Tetfund according to him, has approved the building plan and soil test for the Faculty of Business Studies with construction work commencing next year January 2020.

In another development, the University Guest House housing the Public Relations Unit and the University Canteen which is on the verge of collapsing will be demolished come January 2020 and a new building which will be the tallest edifice in the University erected. The new building will be used as classrooms for International students.
Professor Ndimele presented Staff Condition of Service Brochure which he said has been approved by Council as a working document. Secretaries and Staff with first degrees will now rise to level 14.

Professor Knontein Trinya of the Faculty of Humanities, Department of English and Communication Art has been appointed as the Head of the new Committee on Peace. The eight man committee has Dr Chibuzor Nwobueze and others as members.
The Vice-Chancellor ended with a message on peace where he enjoined staff to love one another, forgive and forget and to live in harmony with each other for peace to reign and for the prosperity of the University.
In her vote of thanks, the Registrar, Mrs Hope Keanibarido Kue-Ikoro thanked the Vice-Chancellor for giving staff a sense of belonging and urged staff to reciprocate the kind gesture.
